Three Blades...

Three Blades...

Postby Caliburn » Tue Feb 23, 2016 6:36 am

Here are three 'Demon Blades' I created for a recently ended campaign;

THE DEMON BLADES - Common Attributes

Each Blade is wielded with Formidable difficulty if the one using it lacks the 'Passion Requirement' (specific Passion listed in each case).

Each one is an unbreakable, +5% skill, +2 damage sword of exquisite design (type as relevant to campaign and setting).

Once a wielder has killed a living sapient creature with the blade, it becomes interwoven with their psyche, and is difficult to relinquish, although this only becomes evident once the owner tries to do so. To discard the weapon requires a Formidable Willpower roll when first tried. If successfully discarded, after a day has passed, a Standard Willpower roll must be de successfully or the user gains a temporary [50%+Charisma+Intelligence] 'Obession (Regain Demon Blade)' which must be rolled daily and acted upon as appropriate. This obsession immediately fades upon regaining the blade.

Each time a Demon Blade kills a living sapient creature, the owner suffers the 'Primary Passion Effect' listed for the relevant blade; the 'Secondary Passion Effect' is active as long blade is in the owners possession.

It should be noted that the owner does not become aware of the fact their Passions are being impacted by the blade until they have gained or lost at least half of the highest % relevant Passion (from the level it was at when the blade first impacted the Passion), at which point dreams connecting the two start to haunt the owner.

BLOODFEUD
Passion Requirement: Hate (person or persons)
Primary Passion Effect: All Hate (person or persons) Passions immediately Deepen by 1d4+1%
Secondary Passion Effect: Hate (person or persons) Passions cannot Wane
Combat Effect: Bleed combat special effects delivered by the blade require that the opposed Endurance roll of the victim is made at Formidable difficulty.

OATHEATER
Passion Requirement: Loyalty
Passion Effect: All Loyalty Passions immediately Wane by 1d4+1%
Secondary Passion Effect: Loyalty Passions cannot Deepen
Combat Effect: Sunder may be chosen by the wielder as a combat special effect even though the blade is 1-handed.

KINSLAYER
Passion Requirement: Love (Family)
Passion Effect: Love (Family) immediately Wanes by 1d4+1%
Secondary Passion Effect: Love (Family) Passions cannot Deepen
Combat Effect: When Select Target is chosen by the wielder as a combat special effect the chosen target is also subject to the Choose Location effect.

They were used to great effect in the campaign - so I thought I'd share them here for you to 'delight' your players...

Enjoy!

Thanks for posting this. I think it is interesting the way that you designed the weapons with the Passion mechanics.
Dithering will only serve to waste your Action Points...

A sword named after making porridge for breakfast, excellent, how many oats does it heat?

Good question - I'll get that question off to the 'Trey Ursas Armoury' for an immediate answer!
