The RQ6 Roll of Honour

Campaign: A Season for All Things
Setting: unique, working name: 'The Firmament'
Scene: Pilgrims, en route to the Temple of Ascension, deep in the Desert of Screams, are separated from their caravan and take shelter in the ruins of what they come to realize is an ancient, jade temple, buried beneath the shifting diamond sands...

Connal, journeyman priest in the service of Ael in his aspect as the Guardian of Life, sworn to the undying protection of the Keystone link which binds the Chaos Dragon in Time and Space. Betrayed by his superiors, and physically corrupted by Chaos, Connal was forcibly roused from the slumber of ages to become host to a chitinous parasite from beneath the dark places of the Firmament to eliminate all witnesses to the theft of the Keystone. Connal was relieved of the burden of having too many unnatural limbs, then stabbed through the brain (lying exposed above the maw cracking its way out of his chest cavity), and allowed to dissolve in the oozing of his possessor's otherworldly acids. His last words were, "Run. For your Souls!"

His words were ignored.

Connal fought valiantly, induced fear and loathing, and never betrayed his faith.

___

Ferrin Gildesen, fourth son of a wealthy and influential trading family, and a young man of no discernible use to anyone despite his 20 summers, was quite unsuccessful at preventing the consumption of his identity and memory, nor was he able to prevent the melting and melding of his physical form into a loosely bonded mass of foamy tissue. He was, however, able to survive being boiled alive long enough to traumatize his Life-Pledged Bodyguard, Gorwyn, whose oath to protect young Ferrin from harm was now no longer possible. Ferrin was laid to rest by a borrowed blade, at his own bodyguard's hand, with vengeance sworn upon all who caused his suffering.
It does not matter that it has all been said before~

In memory of Professor Pennywise

Zoologist of the HMS Resolution, English gentleman and survivor extraordinaire.

Was captured by serpentman sorcerers, when he and his fellows returned to a place of learning they had previously desecrated with their presence. His last words as he was teleported away to some foul death were "Oh bugger!", in the time-honoured tradition of the stiff, upper lip.

In honour of Sextus Aurellius, a minor noble from the town of Groet.

He played the game of politics, but were sadly outmanouvered by the Highbrow Ervhang. His death was both slow and painful.

Mayhaps he should have heeded his friends' advice to swallow his pride.

In memory of Wei Long

Warrior, Smith, Engineer and Scholar. Once a man of Wu, reborn as a great ape in service to the sorcerer Zahn.

Died from inhaling Black Lotus pollen, blown into his face by an acolyte of Quochil as a service to the Lord of Dust. Sadly Wei never learned the wisdom of Sun Tzu words that 'a leader leads by example not by force'. Yet since his slayer was one of the party, perhaps Machiavelli would have been more apt... 'Keep your friends close and enemies closer!'

Loz is running a Culture game with RQ6?

Well there's only one reasonable way to respond to this.

Or, if the licence isn't feasible, I don't think I'm the only one who's love to look at those campaign notes with the serial numbers filed off. :D

No, Pete is. He will, at some stage, make the notes available, I'm sure.

In remembrance of Varshaan, the almost priest of Omg. Indomitable Warrior, sharp-eyed hunter and leading acolyte of his goddess, he who built the first great temple outside the walls of Grimsand.

Although he once slew a triceratops and many other deadly creatures besides, Varshaan died against the mighty five headed hydra of the Reeking Bogs - neigh every bone in his body shattered. Maybe it was breaking the tenet of Omg never to turn his back on a foe, or perhaps it was the sheer cravenness of his compatriots who left him to face the monster single handed. Either way, his spirit now resides entombed within his falchion, to remain in torment until his soul can purge the shame of that final battle.
