Malware alert on Google Chrome

Malware alert on Google Chrome

Postby soltakss » Sat May 31, 2014 6:01 am

I just had a malware alert on Google Chrome for the following links:
viewtopic.php?f=6&t=616 (Outmanoeuvre ruling )
viewtopic.php?f=6&t=639 (Ships & Shield Walls - land battle questions )
viewtopic.php?f=8&t=634 (Monster Island - The Black God's Fane )

Something also opened up a window to http://www.superbrowsergames.com/ by itself.

I've reported to the Freeforums.Org helpdesk.

In the meantime, might be worth you installing an Ad Blocker. I use Opera and have one installed by default: I don't see any ads, and I haven't suffered any malware attacks.

Hopefully though, Freeforums can stamp-out the root cause.

I'm getting banner ads, rather than pop ups, but assume this is free forums funding itself?

Yes, it is. I'm going to see if there's a pay option for getting rid of ads altogether.

In the past couple of Weeks mine have become very intrusive, particularly when reading on a phone, putting themselves in front of the text of threads.... I'm being targeted mainly with ads for paint-ball and scrap-booking!

I run Chrome with the AdBlock Plus extension and haven't seen any ads or malware warnings here.

Well, I just got my first pop up ad. This is on an Ipad, which then opened the App Store for something.

Yes, adblock seems to work. However, that could cause problems if the service provider relies in the ads to fund the service, which is why I don't normally use them. I tend to ignore adverts anyway, so I don't normally need an adblocker.
